What are thread lifts?

A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that tightens your skin with molded or coned threads. Your provider at Align Body & Wellness uses special threads that hold or lift portions of your skin in place.

Your provider can treat the skin around your jaw, cheeks, neck, or eyes with thread lifts. Until recently, surgery was the only solution to skin laxity. But the innovative thread lifts offer a non-surgical facelift that doesn’t require anesthesia, incisions, or downtime for recovery.

What are the types of thread lifts available?

Align Body & Wellness offers two types of thread lifts: NovaThreads® and Silhouette Instalift®.
NovaThread

NovaThreads are made of polydioxanone (PDO), a synthetic polymer commonly used in the medical field to close wounds.

PDO can also help promote your skin’s natural healing process — increasing the production of collagen. Collagen is an essential protein that helps keep the skin firm and taut. The threads dissolve over time, but you retain the results with the increase in collagen.
Silhouette Instalift

Silhouette Instalift consists of poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA), a well-known biomedical copolymer that is biocompatible and biodegradable.

Like PDO threads, your body will absorb the stitches over time, but the boost in collagen helps you maintain the results of a more youthful appearance.

Am I a candidate for thread lifts?

Your provider at Align Body & Wellness determines if you’re a candidate for thread lifts during an in-office consultation. They may recommend thread lifts if you have sagging skin that doesn’t respond to other treatments like injectables, fillers, or laser treatments.

If you have severe skin sagging and can’t undergo a surgical facelift due to underlying medical conditions, your provider may also consider you a candidate for a thread lift.

What happens during a thread lift?

When you come to Align Body & Wellness for a thread lift, your provider performs the procedure in-office. The entire procedure takes less than an hour to complete.

While you lay back in the treatment chair, your provider cleans and applies a local anesthetic to your skin to make sure you’re comfortable throughout the process.

Next, they use a cannula (tiny tube) to create small puncture wounds in your skin and place the PDO or Silhouette Instalift threads to tighten your skin and help you achieve your desired look.

After your thread lift procedure, your provider gives you specific instructions on how to care for your skin at home.

What can I expect after a thread lift?

You may experience some swelling, redness, or tenderness around the treatment area. However, most people find their symptoms resolve after a few days. You can resume your normal activities about 1-2 days after your thread lift procedure.

The threads will dissolve over time. PDO threads typically take 4 to 6 months, while Silhouette threads can take about 6 months to 1 year. The results of your treatment may last up to 2 years* with proper skin care.
